Terms of service

The terms Orviah is provided on

Effective 15 October 2026. Written in plain words on purpose; the plain words are the terms.

1. The agreement

These terms are between you and Orviah ("Orviah", "we") and cover the Orviah app for iPhone and iPad, its services, and this website. By installing or using Orviah you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Orviah. The privacy policy explains how your information is handled and is part of these terms.

2. Orviah is in private beta

Orviah is pre-release software distributed through Apple's TestFlight to people we invite. It is still changing, it may have bugs, and features may appear, change or be withdrawn between builds. Your use of TestFlight is also subject to Apple's terms. We may end the beta, or your part in it, at any time.

3. Who can use it

You must be at least 16 years old and able to enter into this agreement. If you use Orviah with an account provided by an organisation, you confirm you are allowed to connect that account.

4. Your account and your keys

You sign in with Apple, or keep Orviah on one device without an account. You are responsible for your device, its passcode, and your Apple ID. Your life in Orviah is encrypted with keys your device holds; if you turn private backup on, the backup key is in your iCloud Keychain and in a recovery code shown to you once. We do not have your keys and cannot recover your life for you. If you lose every device and the recovery code, your life cannot be restored by anyone, including us.

5. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Orviah on Apple devices you own or control, for your own purposes, in line with these terms. Orviah and everything in it (other than your content) remain ours or our licensors'. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell or otherwise exploit Orviah except as the law allows.

6. Your content

Everything you say to Orviah, everything it organises for you, your pictures, notes and connected-account data are yours. You grant us only the limited permission needed to provide the service: to process each request through our AI service as described in the privacy policy, and to store your sealed backup. We claim no other rights in your content. You are responsible for what you put into Orviah and for having the right to do so, including for other people's information you mention or share.

7. What Orviah's AI is and is not

Orviah uses a large language model to understand what you say and to answer questions. It can misunderstand, miss things, or be wrong. Everything it does to your life is shown to you and can be undone; anything lossy is offered first and waits for your yes. Orviah's answers are not legal, medical, financial or other professional advice, and you decide what to do with them. Check anything that matters.

8. Mail, calendar and other connected services

If you connect Google or, when available, Microsoft accounts, you authorise Orviah to use them as described on the Google mail and calendar page and in the privacy policy. Orviah drafts; you send. An email leaves only when you tap Send, and you are responsible for what you send. Mailbox changes and calendar changes happen only when you ask. Your use of those providers is also subject to their terms, and they may change or withdraw access at any time.

9. Shared spaces

If you create or join a shared space, what you put in it can be read by its other members, and a member who leaves or is removed keeps what they could already read. Owners and admins decide who is in a space. Invite codes are secrets: anyone who has one before it expires or is revoked can join. You are responsible for what you share and with whom.

10. Acceptable use

Do not use Orviah to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, to send spam or deceptive mail, to interfere with the service or its security, to access other people's accounts or data, or to attempt to extract or copy the models or systems behind it. Do not use automated means to send requests to Orviah's AI beyond ordinary use; the service enforces fair-use limits and will tell you when you reach them.

11. Availability and changes

Orviah's AI depends on third-party models and on our own processing service, and may be slow, limited or unavailable at times; the app tells you when it is. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of Orviah, including during the beta. Your life stays on your device whatever happens to the service, and the app lets you see and edit it without the AI.

12. Third-party services

Orviah relies on Apple, Supabase, Anthropic, GitHub, ElevenLabs, Resend and, if you connect them, Google and Microsoft, as set out in the privacy policy. Their services are governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for them.

13. Ending this agreement

You can stop using Orviah at any time and delete your account from Settings, which removes everything we hold for you. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or when the beta ends; where we can, we will tell you first. Sections 6, 7, 14, 15 and 16 survive the end of the agreement.

14. No warranty

Orviah is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind beyond those the law does not let us exclude. In particular, we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its AI will be accurate.

15. Limits on our liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for loss of data you could have backed up (including a life you cannot restore because you lost your devices and recovery code), for loss arising from what Orviah's AI got wrong, or for anything a third-party service did or failed to do; and our total liability to you for everything arising out of Orviah in any twelve-month period is limited to £100 or the amount you paid us in that period, whichever is greater.

16. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer living elsewhere you keep the protection of your local law and may bring a claim in your local courts. If a part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Orviah develops. The date at the top shows the current version, and the app will tell you before a change that matters applies to you. Continuing to use Orviah after that means you accept the new terms.
